Rolex Still The Biggest Name In Watch Bling

Hip-hop fashion changes pretty quickly. Last year’s FUBU is this year’s Gucci. Gold becomes platinum. Baggy jeans turn into skinny jeans. All white turns into “all black everything.” It’s a lot to keep up with. What doesn’t change is what all your favorite rappers want in a watch. One name is all they want: Rolex.
The Rolex President is very popular among rappers and hip-hop enthusiasts alike. It’s name got an extra boost with the ascension of Barack Obama, though there is no evidence he ever wore one. Having a president willing to reference Jay-Z in conversation helped hip-hoppers come around about the phrase “president” its self.
It’s not just Rolex of course, Cartier gets its fair share of shout outs. But comparatively, it’s a drop in the bucket. So if you’re looking to take your hip-hop style to the next level, a Rolex is a great start. Not only that, but the craftsmanship and style of Rolex is absolutely timeless (that is a pun).
Even British rappers are getting in on it. There is an awesome Wiley song from a few years ago called “Wearing My Rolex.” In it, the rapper cleverly switches the person who is wearing “his Rolex.” A woman who he’s become enamored with has him promising her the world. “Next thing [he] knows she’s wearing [his] Rolex.” Maybe you should buy two.
