It is arguably the most well-known name in the watch world. Sure, the guys at Bulova or Patek Philippe might have a strong following. But no one compares to Rolex, and that’s a fact. The word Rolex is almost synonymous with “luxury timepiece,” and has been for as long as they’ve been around… which goes back to the company’s founding in 1905.
But why does this blogger personally like Rolex Watches the most? To be 100% honest with you, it has nothing to do with the design, the style, or the message it sends wearing one.
It’s because Rolex is the watch of 007 himself, James Bond.
The Omega Watch company doesn’t want you to know this, since they’ve been sponsoring the Bond films for decades now as a means of making their brand the ones associated with timepieces that can shoot rockets, communicate over thousands of miles and cut through metal bars. The original James Bond, as told in the stories written by Ian Fleming, wore a Rolex Submariner.
In fact, if you go back and watch the films starring the original Bond, Sean Connery, in the role of super-spy, and you look carefully enough, you’ll find he wore the Submariner consistently.
So before what movie-stars wore was decided by the highest bidder, there was James Bond, wearing a Rolex watch. And as far as I’m concerned, that’s good enough reason for me.
